Hi. I’m Krista Gray.
I’m a lactation consultant, breastfeeding cheerleader, and mother to four amazing children, including twins. I have three boys (ages 7, 7, and 4) and one princess (age 10).
I’ve had three totally different birth experiences on three different continents including an unmedicated hospital birth in America, an emergency C-section (twins) in Egypt, and a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) in a midwifery-led birthing center in Great Britain. I understand what it’s like to get breastfeeding off to a good start no matter how your birth turns out. In fact, several experiences following the birth of my daughter and our premature twins inspired me to become a lactation consultant. (You can read about my various breastfeeding adventures of my firstborn, preemie twins, and VBAC baby here.)
I also understand what it’s like to breastfeed when things are not perfect. During the course of breastfeeding my four children I experienced nursing preemies, twins, an emergency c-section, tongue-tie, lip tie, mastitis, nipple bleb, bacterial infection, teething and biting, engorgement, plugged ducts, pumping, increasing a low milk supply, milk oversupply, and more. Not only can I provide evidence-based breastfeeding support but I also have years of personal breastfeeding experience.
I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I also serve as a La Leche League Leader and have over a thousand hours of experience supporting breastfeeding moms. In 2011 I was selected as the sole international recipient of the annual Health-e-Learning scholarship for lactation studies.
I believe every mother deserves qualified breastfeeding support after giving birth and all parents should be informed about the risks of formula so that they can make an informed feeding decision. I desire to help mothers get breastfeeding off to a great start by supporting them in their individual situations and cheering them on in their personal breastfeeding journeys. Breast milk is the single greatest food ever created and its nutritional benefits will continue to impact a child over his entire life!
